I am an author and a historian. I graduated from Indiana University cum laude, with a degree in Germanic languages, and minors in history and English. I was an editor with Abingdon Press for twelve years, from 1995 to 2007. Currently I am working to establish my own independent small press, called Sheaf House (www.sheafhouse.com), and I'm blogging the process at publishingdream.blogspot.com.
I'm becoming the blog queen! As if I don't have enough to do, I recently added another. The newest is Lamp of History at lampofhistory.blogspot.com. My blogs related to my books are the American Patriot Series Blog at americanpatriotseries.blogspot.com and the One Holy Night Blog at oneholynight.blogspot.com. The Northkill Blog at northkill.blogspot.com focuses on my Amish and Mennonite background and the Hochstetler family saga I'm currently writing with my cousin, author Bob Hostetler. This story is a fictional treatment of the massacre of several family members by Indians during the French and Indian War, and the Indian captivity of several others.
The daughter of Mennonite farmers, I grew up in central Indiana. My interest in the American colonial and Revolutionary War eras grew out of the experiences of my Anabaptist ancestors who came to America from Europe seeking religious freedom. I am a member of American Christian Fiction Writers, Middle Tennessee Christian Writers, Christian Authors Network, and the Historical Novels Society.
I am married to a crazy motorcycle-riding, truck-driving retired United Methodist pastor, and we live near Nashville, Tennessee. To learn more about me and my books, go to my Web site www.jmhochstetler.com.
