I've been told..."never heard music like yours" hmmm...hopefully being unique is a good thing!! Most people will agree, the music is theatrical. So now.... all I need is a theater !

Second Hand Blues (2010)
Second hand blues, as you might expect...is everything we hold onto from the past, that only serves to weigh us down...wear us out...and keep us from knowing the Joy of the Lord COMPLETELY. The title cut, "Second Hand Blues" is blues all-the-way and I bet you'll find your hips swaying!

He Is Risen ! (2008)
At the completion of this CD, the inspiration for a musical became apparent. These songs tell a story and are good bones for a theatrical venue.
Full orchestration has come to fruition and the music is rich and complex.

Love To The Power of Eternity (2006)
A packed CD: the first half is eartherial and deeply engaged in persueing the presence of Christ. The second half is upbeat, uptempo...bubbles with life's unpredictability, it's beauty, and it's sometimes odd sense of humor.

Jazz UP The Spirit (2003)
Because I hadn't developed a "singing voice" yet, my intention for these recordings on "Jazz Up The Spirit" were to have someone else sing them. Well, somehow (and I know how) the CD came together with me singing instead of someone else.
These songs lyrically express the reality of being newly saved by Christ, relinquishing my life to Him and learning to walk in His ways.
Musically, (not ever having written a song before) it is the results of experimenting with a new digital piano after not having played a piano for over 30 years. Yeayah, God is Good!

About Jazz Up The Spirit Music Ministry
|
|
Jazz Up the Spirit Music Ministry was born in 2002... coincidentlly, the same year that I was "born again". Oh, but that's no coincidence...that's just the way God does HIs miracles...through people...and with people. People, like me, who have no clue what their Salvation is about to do to change them...and their life. You see, at the age of 45 (then) I had not even played a piano since the age of 12. Needless to say, I had never sung in public, much less written a song. Yet, it is now 2010 with 4 CD's under my belt and a book called "The Music of My Heart". The music of Jazz Up The Spirit is highly influenced by the rythem of Basia...the brass of Chicago...the unpredictable melodies of Paul Williams and sung with a voice that is similar to Karen Carpenter. The lyrics are thought provoking, encouraging and bubble with life's unpredictable sense of humor. Several selections are theatrical and one day, I hope to compile this collection into a musical. A good example, is the title cut from the 3rd CD called: "He is Risen"... Watch out "Rock and the Rabbi" . :o) I hope you will check out the website: www.jazzupthespirit.com . Or email me now at: linda@jazzupthespirit.com.
PS...In February 2007 I joined forces with "the skywire project" as their lead female vocalist and keyboardist. This is ROCK AND BLUEs people.... and yes sir...this Christian Band will rock your socks off!! We minister to the "unchurched" and the "de-churched". Our venues are truely unique...for instance, on March 30th, 2008 we played at Stump's Supper Club at Channelside, downtown Tampa. One would think..."an unlikely place for a Christian Band"...but then again, Jesus placed Himself amoung the tax-collectors, the Pharicees...the prostitutes...you know...the people who needed Him most. This past summer of 2009 the skywire project began recording a new CD which will include some of my most recent work, which will be ready to release February 2010 Check out the website: www.skywireproject.com
