Jayjee has possessed an intense love for all sorts of music since he was able to walk. Whether it was taking drum lessons from his godfather at 2 years old or dancing on the kitchen table with a plastic microphone as a little curly headed kid, the passion has always been evident. Jayjee was quoted in a recent interview saying, "I remember being eleven or so. I would find all of the tubberware in the house and build a makeshift drumset. Then I would pump Steve Miller Band through my head phones and drive my mom and my step dad crazy with two #2 pencils."
Jayjee first started listening to rap when he was 8 years old. One day, a friend named Johnny brought a Slick Rick tape over to the house. Jayjee was hooked. Ever since, he's had a love for the art. Since coming to Christ, that became a means to spread the gospel. Eventually though, God brought Jayjee to a place where worship became his true passion. After a truly miraculous impartation from the Lord in November of 2003, Jayjee began playing the piano and keyboards on his church worship team without ever having recieved any formal training. Jayjee says, "Worship is a way to release all of our inhibitions and hidden agendas; to just lay all of that down before the Lord and say 'God, I'm nothing without you.' It's a real connection with the heart of the Father. In rapping, I bring glory to God through story telling and poetry, but in worship we bring glory to God in a way that is so much more personal."
