About Janine Stange

"No, you never will escape yourself/You may as well pay attention/You'll be alright, take the time to look inside/You'll find what you're made of." And so goes the title track's chorus of Janine Stange's (STANG: like Mustang) latest CD release that she co-wrote with producer Tim Miner. Pay Attention. (Yes, do that.) In a day where many are trying to become who they aren't rather than be who they are, Janine decidedly douses thirsty ears with waves of truth.
//Moments of Silence….
"People would stop me all the time and ask when my next project was coming out….I honestly didn't know…I had no idea how, where, when or even what. No one handed anything to me; God basically put these dreams in my heart and said 'Go for it'. I'm cut from the same cloth as everyone else."
Just days after the New Year, Janine remembers sitting in her kitchen telling her mom that she stopped trying figuring it all out. "I wasn't giving up, I was letting go, I knew I was supposed to do more but it seemed all doors were shut, and I was determined to not bang on any more …." Literally minutes later her cell phone rang - a door opened.
//Pour it out…
Producer Tim Miner (known for his work with Steve Perry, Al Green, Brian McKnight) was on the other end - she caught his attention. "He asked me when I could get to California…". Three weeks later she was on her way. "When I was on the plane I felt like I was completely emptying out the 'me' from myself creating a void that I knew only God could fill back up." She says she stepped off the plane with nothing. "No agenda, no ideas, no back-up plan. That's a miracle in itself. I'm a New Yorker - we're bred to think ahead of everything."
"I took a journal with me to church every Sunday morning and Tuesday night, and just wrote everything that I felt hit me. I would go back to my apartment, and the songs would flow. I'd write one day and record the next. I was out of my time zone, my comfort zone, and whatever other zone you can think of. I would finish a song and then be empty again."
//On purpose accident….
Much like the culturally diverse city she is from, Pay Attention is a smattering of diverse genres unified by her raw and passionate vocals and 'think-twice' lyrical writing. "We didn't really plan on having such an eclectic project; we just went with what we were feeling." As a result, there is something for everyone and every mood. (Note to all of the Tim Miner fans out there - you'll hear his background vocals on a few tracks as well.)
//A better way...
Janine describes the CD as "...a look at life that's not filtered through religion …we're all tired of the religious stuff. "
//The future's bright…

INCITE: Environment
Just as we concern ourselves with the issue of global warming and its effects on our natural resources, we should also explore the effects of sin on our quality of life, and what we can do to improve our personal environment.

Compassion, love, kindness, gentleness, and yes! even humility are God-given virtues designed to improve our physical and spiritual space. So let us use these virtues in increased measure...We could all stand a breath of fresh air!

LIFE: From Your Friends at

What makes you uniquely special? What would you do if time or money were of no object? Or what big idea have you been quietly nursing as time passes by?

Many of us spend our lives trying to answer these questions to no avail while others push these thoughts aside and get on with the business of practical living. As human beings, we are all not only born with inherent gifts, talents and abilities, but also posses the capacity to directly or indirectly impact our immediate surroundings. Yet somehow, much of it gets lost in the hustle and bustle of every day life. Think about the things you did as a kid, when you were limited only by your imagination?before paying the mortgage became the priority or well intended friends and family members callously wrote on the tablets of your heart. If you could mentally revisit that simpler time; obvious clues about your authentic self and your life's purpose would become apparent. Were you the 'go to' kid in the block? You know, the popular one!The one who's natural leadership ability and 'Big' ideas rallied the group into action. Or maybe you were the more creative type. The kid who explored every hue under the rainbow and through the use of odds and ends and other homespun materials, created imaginative designs that far superseded the ability of his peers. Whoever you are; remember that your true self (the kid you have been carrying with you all along) along side time, money and your ability to dream big are God given assets to help you reach your fullest potential. And remember that as long as you have the gift of life it's never to late explore the possibilities.
