James Goforth Limited Edition CD (2006)
James Goforth - Limited Edition EP
www.jamesgoforth.org
James Goforth is back with this 4 song EP, released in 2006. Clocking in at just over 15 minutes, we are definitely left wanting more.
My first introduction to James Goforth was with his self-titled 2000 release, and this is certainly a release that falls into the same style. Although only consisting of four songs, these four are written well and produced professionally.
James continues in the "contemporary Christian" style, and adds a slant towards "praise & worship" lyrics. Many of these songs could fit in alongside most modern praise music.
"I Know That I Know" opens the disc with a solid "contemporary Christian" pop song, which gets close to sounding like "modern country". This might sit nicely alongside Rascal Flatts or Montgomery Gentry. A good upbeat opening tune, with solid lyrics proclaiming faith in Christ.
"At The Feet Of Jesus" is a praise song, similar to what you may hear at many modern praise gatherings. Lyrics speak of leaving troubles and burdens with Christ. I expect this could easily be a radio hit on many CCM radio stations.
"Closer" is in the acoustic-pop vein, and has a nice uptempo feel to it. This is the most "rock" sounding song on the release, but maintains the pop sound. The chorus is catchy and easily remembered. This one is the "ear worm" for me (it gets in your head and you can't get it out).
"Proclamation" is a praise song with a catchy melody and pleasant groove. Mid-tempo with almost a "Celtic" sound to the opening guitar riffs. Nice bridge and guitar solo section. Lyrics are clearly proclaiming God's glory, and are easily understood. Definitely a solid closer to this EP release.
Overall, I continue to enjoy what James is creating, and won't be surprised to see him picked up by national distribution. The music is professionally performed, well written, easily understood, and it sounds like James has given much thought to his lyrics. it left me wanting more, and that's always a good thing. Good job, James.

James Goforth (2001)
James' first CD, self-titled "JAMES GOFORTH," was released in the summer of 2001. The ten-song CD opens with James' testimony song, "Believer," an acoustic-contemporary song. "Believer" cuts right to the heart of what salvation really is, stating that it's all about grace and love from the father. "Believer" was picked up by Hearken Studios in a compilation CD in 2004. "Power in the Blood" is James' own rendition of this old, beloved hymnan Americana-Blues style that audiences love. "Living Water," was released to radio November 2002 by MusicDog Media in Franklin Tenn, and received great reviews from Texas to South Carolina to Arkansas, saying the lyrics/music were "anointed, and what a great song." "His Hand" is a wonderful ballad-type song that James wrote in response to his observations about the beautiful world around us and how he could see "God's hand in all I see." Other songs include "Redeemed," a song about redemption from sins and His second coming when he redeems us from the world; "Hope of the Faithful," a praise songs inspired by Psalm 16; "Follow," is a slower tune with just a hint of a country sound, clearly shows what our main desire should be once we have come to believe: namely, following Jesus wherever he may lead us. "Latter Rain" is an original acoustic instrumental solo. The album ends with "New Song," an uptempo praise and worship song.

James Goforth, is a passionate songwriter, guitarist and worship leader. The main thing with James is his relationship with the Lord Jesus, and joining in ushering others into His presence, glorifying Him in all aspects of his music and life. As you listen to his music the passion he has for Christ shine through in his lyrics and music. James combines his love for God and music in a very unique and fresh expression of passion and praise. From up-tempo praise and worship, to slower, more contemplative acoustic songs, regardless of the musical style, the lyrics always point simply and directly to Christ.
In addition to his songwriting skills, he has his own guitar teaching studio and performs concerts. His latest CD "James Goforth Limited Edition" CD was released in early 2006, and features four of his latest songs.
Plans are to record a live Worship CD in the Summer of 2007, James covers favorites like:
"Let It Rise" , "Breathe", "You are my King" and "I Can Only Imagine" and introduce "Come Alive" a new Worship song from James.

What people are saying about James:
"James is an excellent musician with great skills in worship leadership and concert performance. He worked our praise team to craft a set of songs that effectively ushered our congregation into the presence of Christ. In concert, his music and testimony worked together to
proclaim the Gospel in a fresh and powerful way."
Scott Stivers, Minister of Music,
All Saints Lutheran Church, Arlington TX
"Singer-songwriter James Goforth is high on my list of the most talented and exciting new Contemporary Christian artists to come out of the Dallas-Fort worth area in a long time. His new self-titled CD is a
passionate and artistic outpouring of praise and prayer."
Steve Mark, owner and Chief Engineer, Ped Mar Studios
I have known James Goforth for over seven years and have found James to be a tremendous blessing in the life of All Saints Lutheran Church where I serve and in my own personal life. James has been one from whom I received encouragement and love as well as a strengthening and blessing in my faith. I have shared moments of ministry with James and believe that you too will find great gifts of God in James and coming through the ministry he shares. I do recommend that you partner with James and through this opportunity God will bless many.

Your name is so appropriate and I pray that He will, indeed, send you forth
so that others can not only hear His message of mercy, but enjoy the gifts
that He has so lavishly bestowed on you. I really look forward to seeing all
that's ahead for you! And I pray His blessings on it as you finish up. May
HE have the final mix! Holy hugs, my new friend...

I love listening to your cd, it helps to keep me lifted up. I also am a
Christian, and am totally in love with the LORD, and grateful for all the
things that GOD has entrusted me with. I'm sure you know all too well what he
can do for us. The words you sing of are incredibly exactly where I feel I am
often. The Lord carries me so...much I wish I could do the same for him.
PLEASE let me know when your next cd comes out, I would love to enjoy it. The
one I have my brother, scooter gave to me, of course he kept the autographed

Keep up the awesome work for the lord, I love to imagine the smile on his face
and the happiness in his heart when he see's his people at work, in this all
too troubled world full of lost souls just wandering and waiting for nothing.
God Bless, you're in my prayers!

You have an incredible ministry. Since seeing you in concert and meeting you personally, my son, Casey, is now listening to Christian music, interested in attending church and seeking more after God.

"Thank you so much for coming, blessing us with your gift, and giving God all the Glory. I really liked how you kept plugging the Word, and the way God speaks powerfully through it." - Caren Christian, Highland Church of Christ, Abilene, Texas
"
thank you for the godly gifts you shared with us at CrossOver. God marked our time together with his grace and glory? We continue to reap the benefits of your praise and worship." - David Lang, Youth Minister, Highland Church of Christ, Abilene, Texas
My reason for emailing you is personal. As I watched your video the thought came to my mind, send the Bible story to James. This thought awoke in me as I listened to you to describe how you write the songs God has given to you. I was thankful to hear that you spend time in God's Word and those moments are the basis of your songs.
Pastor Steve
"The thing God had laid out for us to do this year was to get Christian kids to sell-out 100%. No more, yes I'm a Christian, but just excuse my language, partying, etc
And did he work there! Kids went public! Lives were changed and I believe with all my heart that this went deeper than "event Ministry." I just love when He allows me t the blessing of being any part of His great plan. He is a WOW! God! The other thing He made evident to me was that you were supposed to be there. You did indeed do a great job with your music, but you also showed them what it was to be 100% sold out to Christ! Thank you! You were a blessing! I hope we have the opportunity to get you back here. We'd love it! -
Diane Walker, Youth Minister, Lawn Baptist Church, Lawn, Texas.
