Profile/Account Settings
Question: How do I add the background pictures, sound and other customizations to my profile?
Answer: These are primarily done with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). We do have a profile color theme editor available, complete with options to upload a background and header graphic - click on the "My Profile : Profile Layout" pulldown menu. If you would like to add more background pictures and sound to your profile and you don't know how to write CSS, you will probably want to search the web for "MySpace Themes" or "MySpace Layouts". Then just paste the code into the "CSS Code" box. NOTE: Some of the websites that have these layouts have some pretty lewd content so proceed at your own risk. We have some detailed profile modification instructions in one of our ShoutLife Groups.
Question: How do I post a "Bulletin" or a "Blog"?
Answer: Click on the pull down menu "My Profile" and select either "Bulletin" or "Blog".
Question: Why does it still show me as logged in even though I am no longer on the site?
Answer: This is most likely because you did not click the LOGOUT button, but instead closed your internet browser. If you closed your browser, your profile will be displayed as offline within 15 minutes of inactivity.
Question: How do I add or delete friends?
Answer: All interaction with members can be done by going to their profile. Under their picture is an INTERACT WITH section where there are links to ADD someone to your friends list, or (if they are already on your friends list), REMOVE from your friends list.
Question: How do I delete or cancel my account?
Answer: Click on the "My Profile : Profile Info" pulldown menu, and at the top-right is an option to Cancel your profile.
Question: Why don't all of my groups show up at the bottom of my profile?
Answer: Groups listed as PRIVATE will not show up on user's profiles as they tend to deal with more personal issues.
Question: How do I remove myself from a group that I am in?
Answer: Enter the group that you want to be removed from and click the button "Leave this Group".
Question: How can I change my account type from Music / Comedy / Author / Organization to a personal account or vice versa?
Answer: You cannot. You will need to first cancel your existing accoung and then create a new account under the appropriate genre.
Question: When I try to post a message, why does it bring me to a blank page?
Answer: This is most likely because you have some sort of third-party internet security enabled. We have an intensive security program enabled to eliminate hackers from posting on the site. You may have troubles if it is turned on.

Photos
Question: How do I upload my photo?
Answer: Click on the "My Profile : Photos" pulldown menu. From this page you can either upload or change your main photo and/or set up/maintain photo albums for other pictures you would like displayed on your profile page.
Question: When I upload a new picture, why do I still see the old one?
Answer: This is due to an internet browser caching/memory issue. Your internet browser still remembers the old picture even though you have uploaded a new one. Rest assured that the new picture is probably displaying for everyone else. To fix the issue on your end, simply click the "Refresh" button or press the "F5" key.
Question: When I try to upload a new picture, why do I get an error?
Answer: This is most likely because the format of the picture is not a .gif or .jpg. You must make sure that the format and name of the file is correct or it will not upload. Also, try to keep your uploaded images 2MB or smaller when uploading them. If you try to upload larger pictures, you may get an error.
Question: Why does it appear that I have a NUCLEAR sunburn in my photograph?
Answer: The graphics program that you used to save the .jpg has added either EXIF information to the file header or it has embedded an ICC profile. Please check these settings when saving the file. There should be a way to turn off both of these items.

Privacy/Security
Question: Is my profile information kept private?
Answer: Absolutely! We do not sell or give away any information entered on your profile. The only information displayed online is your city, state, gender and age. You can always enter in a generic city, and you have the ability to hide your age. Your E-Mail Address and real name are kept completely private. You also have the options to make your profile "private" and "exclude yourself from searches". Simply go to the "My Profile : Profile Info" pulldown menu to do this.

Question: How do I report offensive content on a profile or group page?
Answer: Simply click the "Report This Page" button at the top-right of the page. Please include a detailed description of WHY you feel it is offensive. We will take care of the issue as soon as possible.

Question: I want to SPAM a ShoutMail to all of my friends at one time. Is there an easy way to do this?
Answer: No, Shout-Mail is not intended for bulk mailing of people on your friends list. A good way to accomplish getting a message to all of your friends at one time is to send out a "BULLETIN". Bulletins appear immediately on every one of your friend's home pages.
