Goofs in anne of green gables: the sequel
RebornButterfly >|<
3/30/07 - 1:30 PM

Revealing mistakes: At the beginning of the movie when Anne is on the beach and the pages start flying away, all the pages are the same.

Anachronisms: After Anne exits the post office and we first see Gilbert, there appear to be power lines in the background. You can see them to the right of the screen when Anne rips her letter out of Gilbert's hand

Continuity: When Anne and Gilbert race to the bridge and he falls in, he comes out all wet. Moments later, when they encounter Fred and Diana, he is dry.

Crew or equipment visible: As Diana and Anne walk past the house, as they talk about Anne's story and right before running into Rachel with the Jersey cow, you can see crew trailers, a yellow car with its hood up and some other equipment reflected in the windows of the house (best seen in the window at the end).

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Gil comes across Anne and Diana in the mud, he says "Rolling Reliables" instead of "Rollings Reliable."

Continuity: When Anne is preparing to go to Diana and Fred's engagement party, there is a red giftbox on the table. Rachel gives it to Anne as Anne leaves for the party. But in the last shot of that scene, the box is back on the table.

Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Jane Andrews introduces Anne to her fiancé Harry Inglis, and Ruby Gillis irritates her with a comment on her big shiny ring, Jane turns to Harry and says, "Let's go, Harry." However, if you look closely at her lips, she is clearly mouthing out, "Come along, Harry."

Continuity: Anne's first day of school, she goes to the blackboard to write her name and the chalk breaks. There is nothing on the board. But after she closes the door, there is a streak of chalk which she supposedly wrote before the chalk broke.

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Marilla reads the dedication page from Anne's book, the text of the dedication is shown on-screen; and although it states "...and to Gilbert...", Marilla "reads" "...and for Gilbert...".

Continuity: When Anne and Diana are in the cabbage field trying to catch the Jersey cow, it is supposedly in the early- to late-morning. However, in one shot, you can see the sun setting behind them and hear the evening crickets in the woods.

Continuity: At Diana's wedding, when the minister's wife is singing under the tent, it is clearly raining outside. However, when it cuts to the guests outside at the wedding it is not.

Continuity: When Morgan proposes to Anne outside in the courtyard, the snow only falls on Anne.

Continuity: During the class after Anne, Emiline and Essie break into the shed, Anne walks into the room and we see a rude drawing of her on the board. As the shots of the giggling class are shown you can see that Jen Pringle is at her usual desk. However, minutes later, we see that her desk is empty as she walks into the classroom apparently late for class.

I've noticed several of these "oops". I love to pick movies apart like that, especially when I've seen them a million times. It drives my husband crazy. I have an attention to detail disorder I think.

I love to do this too. In the middle of a movie I'll just blurt out "wasn't that window broken a second ago?" Then all who are watching with me either moan or want to rewind to see if I'm right. It can get comical. At least to me. Others may find it annoying. :-)

As my dad says constantly while watching for those errors: "Continuity, continuity, continuity..." :)
