Lupus For people who have Lupus and their family members Moderated By: Rae Ann Members: 11 Created On: Mar 10, 2007 This group is meant to provide support for people with Lupus and their family members. The effects of Lupus are vast. Symptoms are not uniform. Lupus is a very hard condition to diagnose, and few physicians treat the illness. I hope group members will feel free to discuss your illness and treatments. As a group, we can provide support for one another, and also educate each other. The picture is a chalk drawing I made of what Lupus means to me. The butterfly of course represents the butterfly rash associated with the disease. Lupus is derived from the Latin word Lupine meaning wolf, just lilke a wolf, Lupus will sneak up on its prey. The broken heart means different things to different people. To me, it represents what all I have lost due to the illness. The clock is time, time is precious. There is a human eye in the cloud to the left side of the drawing, the raindrops are also teardrops. The clouds and the lightning bolt represent the storm that accompanies a life-threatening illness. And finally, the purple ribbon in the background is the ribbon to represent Lupus supporters.
