Our gratitude is deepened when we remember the price others paid to help obtain freedom here in the United States and through out the World.

Even more important, have we become so familiar with the gospel that we fail to appreciate what our salvation cost the Savior? We rejoice in the spiritual freedom we enjoy by faith in the sin canceling death of Jesus, but do we realize at least to some small degree the price He paid?

Are we truly grateful to Jesus for all He sacrificed to set us free spiritually? If so, we are to "stand fast . . . in the liberty by which Christ has made us free" (Gal. 5:1). No matter what else may be demanding our attention, let's take time to remember the unpayable debt we owe Him.

But drops of grief can never repay
The debt of love I owe:

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From every mountainside,
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees,
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our fathers' God, to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King.

Salvation is infinitely costly but absolutely free.
Let freedom ring
Blessings,
Annette

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.(Philippians 4:6)

Whenever a preacher begins to talk about worry, I sense a pair of eyes staring at me. Without even turning my head, I know that my husband is looking at me to see if I'm paying attention.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a worrier. And precisely because there are a lot of people just like me, Jesus addressed this problem in Matthew 6:25-34 when He said: "Do not worry." Don't worry about the basic needs of life food, clothing, shelter and don't worry about tomorrow.

Sometimes we expand the worry circle to our families, friends, and churches. Just like the 10 spies in Numbers 13:26-33 who spread their fear and doubt to everyone else. But although we worry we also put our trust in God alone and can stand alongside Joshua and Caleb, the only ones in the group of 12 whom God allowed to enter the Promised Land.

We cannot let our worries hold us back from what God may be trying to teach us. He invites us to bring our anxious thoughts directly to Him (Phil. 4:6).

When you feel the tension mounting,
And across the busy day
Only gloomy clouds are drifting,
As you start to worry pray!

To be anxious about nothing, pray about everything.
Blessings,
Annette

Exercise yourself toward godliness.(1 Timothy 4:7)

Paul told Timothy that physical exercise does profit us "a little" (1 Timothy 4:8). Regular exercise and recreation can help to restore our perspective, to tone up our muscles, and to recharge our batteries. But Paul said that "godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come" (v.8).

The trouble is that many Christians today emphasize physical exercise almost to the exclusion of spiritual exercise. Paul also said, "Exercise yourself toward godliness" (v.7). Regular spiritual exercise such as prayer, Bible study, walking in the Spirit, sharing Christ with others, serving others, and living a pure and holy life are "profitable" for both time and eternity.

Looking forward to the weekend is fine. And there's nothing wrong with biking, swimming, golfing, or other forms of recreation. But remember, the greatest profit comes from exercising "toward godliness."

A healthy body, healthy mind,
Should be the Christian's goal;
But it is more important still
To exercise the soul.

Blessings,
Annette

(Colossians 1:3)
We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.

O that my life may useful be
As I serve Jesus faithfully;
And may His love be seen in me
This is my earnest prayer.

We don't have to wait in line, enter a building, or wear nice clothing.
We can pour out our hearts to the Lord anytime, anywhere.
Paul always seemed to marvel at the door opened wide into the presence of God.
"In Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood
of Christ," he wrote. "For through Him we both [Gentiles and Jews] have access
by one Spirit to the Father" (Eph. 2:13,18).

The door is open for everyone. God welcomes all who come by faith. Through Christ
we can enter His presence anytime and anywhere.
Through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. (Ephesians 2:18)

Anytime, Anywhere;
Let's always keep the prayer lines open,
Knowing God is always there;
For we upon His name may call
Anytime and anywhere.

Blessings,
Annette
