General Interests
I'm a big-time reader. I love the outdoors. I like playing a good game of jaw-smashing basketball. I'm an avid chess player. Most of all, I love to go on dates with my wife because we truly love, understand, and accept one another.
Music
Most of the time, I'm listening to alternative and hard rock, everything from Audioslave, Flyleaf, Muse, Red, Demon Hunter, and Evanescence, to As Cities Burn, Radiohead, Coldplay, As I Lay Dying, Switchfoot, and Underoath. My all-time favorite, for lyrics and longevity, is U2.
Books
I grew up reading C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, then Robert Ludlum and Alistair MacLean, John LeCarre, Graham Greene, Harper Lee, and Morris West. Nowadays, I read Daniel Silva, Dean Koontz, Harlan Coben, Ted Dekker, Melanie Wells, Sue Dent, Steven James, Chris Well, Brandt Dodson, Kathryn Mackel, James Lee Burke, and numerous others. Anne Lamott and Donald Miller hit the bull's-eye for me on the non-fiction end.
Movies/TV
My tastes range from The Shawshank Redemption, Match Point, Life is Beautiful, Se7en, and Crash, to Liar Liar, Fight Club, Unbreakable, Serendipity, Pieces of April, and Lord of the Rings. Netflix is my friend.

FACING THE GIANTS (novelization of the movie) (2007)
Never give up. Never back down. Never lose faith.

I was honored to write the novelization of this grass-roots hit movie. The story follows a football coach facing his sixth losing season. Grant not only experiences failure on the gridiron, but obstacles on the homefront. He and his wife, Brooke, want children. Yet they've been unable to conceive.

Together, they cry out to God for a breakthrough--and the Lord answers in ways they do not expect! The team, the coach, and the school, learn just what it means to praise God whether they win or lose.

THE BEST OF EVIL (an Aramis Black novel) (2006)
Haunted by his mother's passing, Aramis Black has left his old ways behind to start anew in Tennessee. He's determined to defy the message tattooed on both his arms: "Live by the Sword; Die by the Sword." The problem is, his old nature doesn't die as easily as he'd like.

When a stranger is gunned down in his coffee shop, the man's dying words are ones Aramis has heard before--over twenty years ago. "Turn your eyes from greed....they're comin' for you next." Against his will, Aramis is plunged into a mystery spanning the generations to his mother's passing years ago. Once this mystery gets its hooks into you, it'll demand to be read at a furious pace.

Endorsement: "Wilson reveals himself as THE author to watch. His writing sizzles; his characters grab you and won't let go; his story intrigues, entertains, and makes you think. This is a page-turner you'll talk about with your friends."
-Robert Liparulo, author of Germ and Comes a Horseman

EXPIRATION DATE (second in the Senses Series) (2005)
Clay is a man with a dark past and an uncertain future. A failure in both business and marriage, he has come home after a decade away, hoping for a fresh start in the small Pacific Northwest town where he grew up.

But Clay harbors a terrible secret, one that even those closest to him don't know. When increasingly sinister notes appear in the folds of his morning paper, he realizes the truth is not so secret after all. Then people around him start dying and, with a serial killer on the loose, he discovers a terrible gift: he can foresee the timing of a person's demise-his or her expiration date.

As his newfound ability proves both a blessing and a curse, Clay's foreknowledge could cost more than he can bear to lose. Working with ex-cop and investigator Vince Turney, Clay must overcome an unspeakable evil, one that he himself may have empowered.

Endorsement: "Eric Wilson sets the bar even higher than he did with his debut novel. Like a classic Hitchcock hero, Clay Ryker is an ordinary man caught in an extraordinary situation that forces him to risk everything to save his wife and child and even his own life. Wilson builds a story that twists and turns and keeps you going until the final climax."
-Steven Womack, Edgar Award-winning author

DARK TO MORTAL EYES (first in the Senses Series) (2004)
In this thriller, a dark secret could wreak havoc upon the population of the Oregon coast. Josee Walker, once given up for adoption by her wealthy parents, is a cynical poet in her 20s. She's come upon a canister that will make her a pawn in a horrendous scheme.

The canister holds a poison for the body and the soul. "Hidden things are at work here," cautions Marsh's mother. "Elements that remain dark to our mortal eyes." Things get creepy, with vaporous serpent-like mists showing up in unlikely places. To help defeat the forces of evil, Josee must rely on the fragments of a faith she's mostly left behind.

Endorsement: "Eric Wilson delivers a debut that will surely expand the minds and speed the hearts of readers. Wilson is set to leave his mark on the world of fiction."
--Ted Dekker, best-selling author of Thr3e and Black

About Eric Wilson
I'm the author of ten novels, four published through WaterBrook Press (a division of Random House) and six more through Thomas Nelson. My Jerusalem's Undead Trilogy kicked off with FIELD OF BLOOD in 2008, continued with HAUNT OF JACKALS, and VALLEY OF BONES comes out April '10. My novelization of the Kendricks' screenplay for FIREPROOF hit the NY Times bestseller list for 17 weeks.

When I walk in a room, I can't help but overhear conversations and pick up on others' moods. My heart beats for the downtrodden and the outcast. I love the fringes of society. Sometimes, I wish I could turn all this off in my head, so that I could numbly go through a day without getting burdened with others' concerns. Impossible.

Which is why I write, I suppose. DARK TO MORTAL EYES ('04) and EXPIRATION DATE ('05) are the first two in a five-part suspense series. THE BEST OF EVIL ('06) and A SHRED OF TRUTH (July 17,'07) are the first in the Aramis Black Mystery Series. I've also been honored with the opportunity to do the novelizations of FACING THE GIANTS (October '07) and FLYWHEEL (April '08) from the grass-roots theatrical hits.

I write novels that revolve around characters who struggle with life's questions. As a Christian who is sick of organized religion, I often wonder: If Jesus is the Answer, why are we so afraid of the questions?
