My name is Erica Brooks. I live in Glen Burnie, MD, a suburb of Baltimore with my husband Chris and two children, Taylor 18 months and Christopher II 4 months. They are truly my blessings from God.
I worked many years as a customer service representative at some of the biggest companies in the United States. I wanted to work at home to be in control of my own hours. I wanted to get away from the office politics and everything else that went along with working for someone. I tried telecommuting but it just wasn't enough. I still did not have total control of my hours or my pay. I needed a way to continue to stay at home with my children while being able to contribute financially to my household. The thought of leaving my children in someone else's care for 8-12 hours or more a day saddened me. I would be missing out on all of their special moments.
I had been in direct sales and network marketing for many years but never achieved as much success as I would have liked. Sure I made money, some months better than others, but what I needed was a steady income! With two small children and a new mortgage, a business with large start up costs and home parties were out of the question! I needed a business that was affordable and could be conducted online. A true "home based business".
God, who do I have to become to be successful?
That is the question that I asked God. His answer to me was – You have to become a business person”! You have to grow. Your business will never grow until you do. You have to change the way you think. You have to have a positive mindset. You have to surround yourself with success minded individuals. You have to be diligent, disciplined, humble, and obedient. You have to be teachable- educating yourself continually. You have to be of service to others.
There began my journey of personal development. I began reading and taking courses on every area of personal and business development that I could get my hands on. Studying and learning from successful business people, many just like me, who had tried and had many failures before they discovered success that had been in front of them all along.
The business that had been in front of me all along!
I heard about Gourmet Candles online for a few months but did not look into the opportunity. At the time I thought to myself "oh just another candle company" but, one day a fellow online business woman's daughter was holding a fundraiser using the candles. I purchased one just to support her cause, still not being interested in the opportunity. Once I received the candle, I absolutely loved it and that is what got me interested in the business. I researched the opportunity for a couple of months and finally joined after learning more about the products, the company and our teams "duplicatable system" which includes lots of training and support.
Our training not only focuses on the products, our training focuses on what really makes one successful in business- You! Personal growth through education and changing your mindset is the key that will open doors for you.
I have not regretted for one moment joining this wonderful business. The products are awesome and the team training and support are phenomenal!
