Soulful acoustic driven worship laced with melodic harmonies, packaged with swirling guitars and keys describes the dustin burke Band [db]B sonically. However, as Dustin explains, its more than just putting on a great show. "Corporate praise and worship is best expressed when it is an overflow of our private praise and worship all week long. I can't wait to stand up and play my guitar and sing and share with the people corporately what God did in my life privately." Its that desire and that passion that drives this band to be more than just another worship act.
Forming in 1998 under a different band name, Dustin was leading the charge in the Dayton, OH community and regionally for folks to come together to worship in spirit and in truth. Teaming up to form the dustin burke Band with local musicians that shared the same passion and desire in early 2004 was the obvious next step in Dustin's musical journey. Thus the journey began and has taken him and the band across the Midwest, playing in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, Kansas and North Carolina opening for acts such as Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Building 429, Jaci Valesquez, Tait, Skillet, All Together Separate and others along the way.
It was during this journey that the band crossed paths with former guitarist turned producer Barry Blair of Audio Adrenaline fame. It was his strong interest and desire to produce an EP that led the band to Nashville in the Spring of '05. Seven songs and a few months later the band had completed their first professional recording, and continued their momentum. Those seven songs were a reflection of the creativity both lyrically and musically that embodied the dustin burke Band. What stands out the most is Dustin's heart of worship, penned carefully through songs such as the title track Mystery & Wonder.
That effort then led to the partnership with IndieHeaven, a resource for unsigned Christian bands who are looking to take it to the next level. Keith Mohr, the founder of IndieHeaven, began to take notice to the hard work and great songs coming out of the db[B] camp. It all led up to the band receiving the coveted Momentum Award in the spring of '06 from IH, affording them the opportunity to record a full-length project with award winning producer Jim Cooper and famed guitarist/producer Tony Palacios. The project is completed and now available online and at their concert events.
Dustin explains, "Our desires are simple really. We want what God desires. Saying that is simple, but understanding it can be all together complex. We want to bring refreshing to a generation of people who are thirsty and even starving for a fresh and revolutionizing move of God." He continues with the bands mission statement, "We exist to touch more people than ever before with the message of Jesus Christ giving the world songs to sing to their God and sharing with them the greatness fame and renown of Jesus Christ by edifying believers through corporate worship and drawing the lost to repentance by revealing the glory of God. Its easy to feel used by God when crowds are clapping and singing our songs. Its cool to see an impact in those ways but what if the crowd doesn't clap and the accolades no longer roll in, what then? Well, we remind ourselves of our mission statement." Its that attitude that defines the bands purpose to lead others into the presence of the Lord. Dustin finalizes, "God is looking for people to worship Him and He will be faithful to reveal himself to us when we seek Him with all of our hearts. We want to be known as a vehicle that carries the presence of the Lord."
