If you could look at a glass partially filled and ponder it's meaning would you say it was half empty or half full? Would you even care? Desi M. looks at life through rose colored glasses: What may appear to be a glass missing half its contents is a glass to her containing more excitement, more life, more adventure. Desi chooses to take the lemons life's tree drops and make lemonade. Surely you're saying Wow! This girl has tackled all of life's cliches in less than a hundred words but does she really stand up to them?In reality, she does. Having faced more than one obstacle in the past she always manages to come out with a smile. During any trial you'll most likely find Desi clinging to the hope and promises established by her One True Father! She'll be singing a happy tune, laughing a little (or a lot), smiling, and saying, "Thank you Jesus that you have counted me worthy to suffer for Your name's sake!"Desi M. got her first taste of music at a Stryper concert back in the 80's. From her 3rd row seat, the bright lights and heavy fog mixed with the music made her dream of one day performing in a venue as big to touch countless lives for Christ...well half of that is true. She does dream of touching countless lives for Christ, and her first concert was a 3rd row seat at Stryper (in fact her Dad Kenny Metcalf was their keyboardist), but the passion she has developed for music did not surface until her senior year in High School when she saw Nancy Wilson (of Heart) playing Dog and Butterfly on the Guitar. She immediately bought the same guitar Nancy played and started learning the craft. During her early years in college she began to dabble in songwriting. The songs she writes are inspired by the lives of people she meets or crazy moments from her very own life. Her aim is to write the songs that people can relate to, where they can say, "Hey, that's me..." or "I've been there..." "Wow, I'm not alone?!" The point she wishes to make is that "no matter what kind of junk we find ourselves stuck in...we're not alone. God fashioned every thought, feeling, and emotion, and He knows the precise timing of every detail in our life." Above all, she hopes that the music she brings forth will help aid in healing and promote growhat! two hippos? in those who listen.In 2006, Desi logged studio time in Nashville with Ricky B. Rogers and Tim Gaines (formerly of Stryper) recording her song "Famous" which she had also recorded in her hometown in California with Kenny Metcalf. She has played some local coffee houses and even had the privilege to sing along side Mr. Bryan Duncan at a toy drive held by California VTX Motorcycle riders. Desi is a petite girl with a not so petite vision. Keep your eyes wide open, because you won't want to miss the adventure she's living!!-Denise Matthews
