Because I Said Forever (2001)
Maybe you feel a little jaded. You've read Christian marriage books but can't identify. The problems seem trivial, the solutions unrealistic. They don't talk about shouting matches in the kitchen, nights spent alone, years of broken promises, or a husband who is hostile to your faith.

This book is different. Guided by scriptural principles, authors Deb Kalmbach and Heather Kopp provide life-tested advice and solid spiritual support for a wife making the tough choice to stay in a difficult marriage...knowing all her decision may require.

About Deb Kalmbach
Hi! Welcome to my ShoutLife page!

I found out some time ago that my name, Deborah, (though I much prefer to be called Deb), means loyal messenger of truth. How fitting for a writer, I thought. It is my constant prayer that "the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart will be acceptable in God's sight..." as Psalm 19:14 states.

I am a wife to Randy (almost 37 years!), mom to Chris (36) and Jeremy (33), and a dog-mom to Kramer (7) and Kosmo (3)who are lively Jack Russell Terriers. I live in Washington's beautiful Methow Valley in a small rural community (pop. 350). If you look at a map, we're about 1/2" from the Canadian border in north central Washington.

My passion is encouraging others--especially others who are struggling with difficult marriages. It is such a privilege to offer comfort and support--the same comfort Randy and I have received through the years. We have learned that God's grace is sufficient to get us through even the toughest times.

I look forward to getting to know lots of other ShoutLife friends. Thanks for bearing with me as I'm slowly learning to navigate the blogosphere!

A Holy Moment   8/23/2007 - 1:23 AM
On Monday evening, our community experienced what I believe was a holy moment. We gathered together to mourn the loss of a six-year-old child, and to express our love and support to the family. The tragedy is incomprehensible as they have barely expe... (login or sign up to read more)

To God Be the Glory!   6/16/2007 - 4:26 PM
My husband Randy celebrated his --drum roll, please--56th birthday a couple of weeks ago! As they say in Alcoholics Anonymous, that's a "belly button" birthday. His sobriety birthday is coming up on 9 years--a miraculous, joyous occasion that has m... (login or sign up to read more)

God is still in control   4/21/2007 - 1:43 PM
I'm in my fleecy bathrobe this morning--my favorite part of Saturday morning. Just having quiet time with the Lord, time to think and pray. I love not having to race out the door for work. I look outside at the beauty of early spring. Seeing gree... (login or sign up to read more)

My Kind of Town   4/14/2007 - 12:01 PM
No, it's not Chicago, even though I think the Windy City is a great place. It's our little town, Pop. 350. No traffic lights, only a 4-way stop at the one intersection downtown. I'll have to take a stroll to the general store today. They have an ... (login or sign up to read more)

Sunday's Coming!   4/07/2007 - 1:21 PM
Who can forget Tony Campolo's incredibly powerful message from a number of years ago, "It's Friday, but Sunday's Coming!"? Just in case you've never heard it, Tony Campolo, a pastor and university professor, recounted a sermon preached by an African ... (login or sign up to read more)
