Debbie L. Rice is a married mother of 3, including a daughter adopted from China, and a special needs son. She leads children in worship at her home church during their Wednesday evening BreakOut program for 3rd-5th grade, and she also serves as a small group leader for the 5th grade girls. Debbie is also member of the Worship team and the choir at her church. Debbie is a world traveler, a Breast cancer survivor, and a natural leader. She embraces both the challenges and blessings that God has given her, taking James 1:2-4 as her life verse. Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Debbie is an award winning songwriter, having received awards from several songwriting icons including Billboard Magazine, Indieheaven.com, Unisong International, and KCCM King Cat Music Awards.
In 2005, while still a solo artist, Debbie was nominated in two categories for the prestigious "Momentum Awards" sponsored by Indieheaven.com. Her song, "In Your Silence" was also nominated for "Best of SongU" at SongU.com. . "In Your Silence" was also selected for Indieheaven.com radio airplay, and made the chart in Christian Radio & Retail Weekly (CRW) magazine in the Indieheaven "Hot Top 40" category.
Her debut CD, "By Faith", recorded with her band, "Faith:REFINED", was released in 2006. The single, "Building Idols in a Fallen World", won the Honorable Mention award at the Unisong International Songwriters Awards.
The 2007 Indieheaven.com Momentum Awards saw Debbie & Faith:REFINED nominated in an unprecedented 4 categories, including "Song of the Year" for "In Your Silence". Also in June of 2007 their single, "They Chose Me", reached the Number One spot on the Indieheaven Fan Faves chart and stayed there for 2 weeks. "They Chose Me" was also given the Honorable Mention award from Unisong International.
The year 2008 started off with the band being nominated for "Contemporary Artist of the Year" at the Annual King Kat Music Awards in Kansas City, KS, and also saw the group nominated again for "Contemporary Artist of the Year" and "Country Artist of the Year" for the 2008 Indieheaven.com Momentum Awards. In May of 2008, the Billboard Magazine World Songwriting Contest presented Debbie with an Honorable Mention for her song, "They Chose Me".
