Singer songwriter Dan Nel was born in Johannesburg South-Africa. He moved to Newmarket Ontario, Canada in 1997. It was towards the end of his high school years that he bought his first guitar. Dan started writing songs as soon as he learned a few chords on his guitar. It was then that the words for his music came from the influences of his upbringing. The lyrics he writes and performs today are based from his life experiences, and the real life issues we deal with daily. Dan Nel moved to Calgary Alberta in 2004 and started writing many of the songs you will hear on his debut album "City Lights". The songs on the album each carry with them a unique story which you will hear and most likely relate to in some way. Dan's music has been shaped over the years by some of the music industries great influences like, Eric Clapton, Gavin Degraw, Third day, Tree 63 and many more. His own creative abilities and tastes create stories that are told with a lot of zeal and truth throughout all his songs. It has been Dan's dream to create an album with songs that he can share with the whole world. Aside from singing and writing music, Dan is working towards a degree in ministry at Ambrose University in Calgary so he can become a pastor. Dan loves to travel and invest time into the lives of people he meets along his walk. Music has always been a huge part of his life from the day he could carry a tune.
