Beyond the Crossroads (2006)
Beyond the Crossroads is a collection of poems and short stories exploring the theme of relationships. Drawn on personal experience and Biblical tradition, Cindy Emmet Smith touches on the pain, the joys and the promise from the silent beginnings of a baby, to the realization of mature love. The collection includes poems previously published in Feelings Quarterly, Byline and Time of Singing.
Because it touches on issues of same-gender-attraction, the original edition, entitled Sidewalks and Starfish, was featured at the 1999 PFOX conference where it was enthusiastically received. (For more information on PFOX, explore pfox.org)

The Cracked and Silent Mirror (2000)
Jennifer Michaels takes her baby and hides when she finds out that her husband Kevin has broken his wedding vows. Afraid of rejection and censure, she refrains from sharing her problems with relatives.
THE CRACKED AND SILENT MIRROR is a novel about learning to cope with a seemingly insurmountable problem that indirectly affects more than only Jennifer and Kevin: homosexuality in the family.
Jen refuses to divorce Kevin, confidant that God intended them as man and wife. She begins to explore her own worth as a woman in the eyes of God. In need of support, she turns to her friend Adam Westerman who encourages her by sharing his own testimony of past sexual brokenness.
Kevin has never been certain of his personal value. Now, as he accepts that he is homosexual, he finds approval in the arms of his lover. When his relationship with Neil starts to crumble, he learns God cares for him and wants him back. He and Jennifer each undertake the journey to healing by finding their value in the eyes of God.

My husband and I live in central Pennsylvania with our daughter who is a senior in high school. Our boys have already flown: the older one works for a bank in Pittsburgh and the other is in the Air Force stationed in England.
I have loved to read as long as I can remember. I graduated from Peter Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh to Mary Poppins and the play The Fourposter in no time. Now I can't imagine being without a book. As you might guess, I am a very eclectic reader, but I usually choose fiction first. I have a long list of favorite authors.
I started writing about twelve years ago, soon found a critique group, and I have been at it ever since.
I have plans for 2009, so keep watching!
