"Pure. That's the first word that comes to mind when I hear Cindy Johnson's music. In a world that is full of artists with songs that are just clever catch phrases with no meat on the bone it's really nice to find an artist who passionately lives the songs that she sings. Cindy's voice is a soothing to listen to as any I've ever heard and I have always been a fan of her artistry, but even more than that, her heart. Cindy is the real deal and I encourage anyone to give her more than a passing listen."
- Jason Roy of Building429
"A sensitive, Godly, humble soul coupled with a firecracker personality, and all wrapped in a beautiful, compelling musical gift. People are drawn to her from the moment they meet her, and rightly so. Rarely has such a passion and drive been knit together with such a likable nature."
- John Mays, V.P./A&R, Centricity Records
In May of 1999, Cindy graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. She felt God calling her to move back to NC and begin a full time ministry based there. So, in January of 2000, Cindy moved home and Stage 2 Ministries was born.
Almost 8 years later, it is incredible to look back and see what God has done for Cindy and Stage 2 Ministries. As an independent artist, He has given her some overwhelming opportunities.
"God has grown me not only as a vocalist, but also as a songwriter and a guitarist. I am so humbled every time He gives me a new original song."
Cindy has 4 full length albums entitled "Beyond the Obvious", "No Longer Satisfied", "As I Go" and the brand new CD "The Christmas Presence."
She has shared the stage with Jars of Clay, Mark Schultz, Andrew Peterson, Derek Webb, Casting Crowns, Chris Rice, Building 429, Jump 5, FFH, and Pastor Tony Evans. She has been featured in the Independent Artist section of CCM magazine and Iis currently receiving radio play in the United States and Puerto Rico.
In February of 2005, Cindy won the Pop-Adult Contemporary Category of the Gospel Music Association's Regional Songwriting Competition. In August of 2005, she was chosen to travel overseas with Compassion International for a Music and Ministry Experience. Since then, she has joined the Independent Artist Roster of Compassion International and now partners with them and their ministry to "release children from poverty in Jesus' name."
"The desire of my heart is to lead people to Christ. Salvation is the most important step anyone can take and I see that as Stage 1 of life. Then we begin that ever-growing relationship with Him...or Stage 2. I feel specifically called to lead Christians to "Stage 2" in their relationship with Christ. I long for them to experience deeper worship and a more intimate walk with Him. There is nothing more fulfilling for me than to lead people to the very throne of God and let them fellowship with their Father."
