Blogging about the #1 question people ask when they find out I'm a foster mother
May 21, 2010 - 12:38 AM
|
Mother and foster parent, I carve time to write from my busy schedule because I must tell the stories that haunt my every waking moment. (Such is the overly dramatic description of an author's life!) I hold a BA in Literature, yet love a good Calculus problem, as well. My debut novel, The Familiar Stranger, released from Moody in September, and is available online( Christian Book or Amazon) or in local bookstores. The book deals with lies, secrets, and themes of forgiveness in a troubled marriage.
I have been published in The Oregonian, The Secret Place, and Daily Devotions for Writers. A member of Oregon Christian Writers, American Christian Fiction Writers, and the Redeemed Writer's Critique Group, I love taking words out of my head so it's quieter in there. Stop by Ashberry Lane to read updates on the progress of my novels.
Most importantly, subscribe to the infrequent, humorous Ashberry Lane newsletter for a chance to win an iPod Shuffle or free autographed books for life! Visit my website or Posting with Purpose to find out even more about me.

Though I would have accepted.
And I'm never speechless.
:)
Moody had told me to have a one-minute speech ready, just in case. As I looked at the books I was up against, I honestly didn't expect to win, but I crafted one anyway, because I'm ...

I'm so behind! First the Christy's and ICRS, then home for three days before we were off to Disneyland. Now in vacation recovery. :)
But I didn't want to miss the chance to post the list of the winners. Next post will have my non-acceptance speech...

Or should that be Writer's Book Camp?
Students from Veritas school in Newberg arranged for me to speak one afternoon of their week-long writing intensive. What a fun group of kids. I believe all of them were going into 8th or 9th grade, and belon...

Keeper of Prayers

I tucked my almost--as in three days away from--two-year old "Tyler" into bed tonight and sang a few songs, then prayed. After I said, "Amen," he prayed too. Went a little something like this:
"I-nah, i-nah, i-nah i-nah i-nah i-nah. I-nah Mom. I-n...
