I write, arrange, record and produce everything myself using strict quality control! My wife (Sharon) and son (Joshua) also sing (and shout, sneeze and make strange noises) on my recordings.
Influences:
My main influence is God's own creation. I look around and see vibrtant colour, diversity in design and technical detail and try to apply this in my music. I am simply influenced by my creator. I've been told that my music is like a painting in that the more you look then the more you'll see.

after leaving a dress rehearsal for Pirates of Penzance, Gilbert & Sullivan inadvertently enter a time machine and are transported to the late 20st century upon which they discover new instruments and sounds and, after an Abbey Road experience, decide to write songs for their young great great great great grandchildren to sing and groove to, which were recorded and produced in the local church's kitchen by some hairy looking studio hermit who only comes out of the studio twice a week to buy donuts, you know, the ringed ones with pink icing on top.

Well, it's a bit like that really, except that some of the donuts have chocolate icing on top.

Also a bit like Ishmael, Duggy Dug Doug Horley, Kids Praise (Psalty), stage musicals, Matt Redman or Tim Hughes after they've drunk too much Lemonade and eaten too many Crisps.

About CHRIS MEDWAY - Kids Praise Songs

..........and welcome to my Shoutlife page. I'm a songwriter and producer of kids praise and family worship songs, living in the coastal town of Dawlish in Devon, UK. I'm married to Sharon and we have a son, Joshua (b.1999) whom we teach at home. Our church home is Mars Hill Church in the neighbouring coastal town of Teignmouth. We have a pet Giant African Land Snail called Billy who says 'hello' to you.

Over recent years, I strongly felt led to write praise and worship songs for children, putting aside ambitions to compose for theatre and film. My aim is for kids praise songs to be fun and quirky, intelligent (but understandable), and relevant, which kids and adults will love to sing and listen to. This, I think, is a great way to teach God's truths and stir a heartfelt response of praise to God for whom He is and what He's done for us.

Being involved in Children's ministry often means bouncing around clutching a guitar trying to generate enthusiasm amongst kids who stare back at me blankly. Coming from Devon means I can do convincing pirate impressions (ahhaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr - see, told you) which sometimes helps in that sort of ministry (although it wrecks my throat). The song "Ahoy There" on the new CD demonstrates this beautifully (?!)

....and using eclectic instrumentation and diverse sounds, including panpipes, kitchen utensils and chromatic percussion whizzing through the speakers, the music has energy and vibrancy to make it an exciting listening experience for all kids aged 0-200. As a reviewer said: "Using the theme of a train journey, Chris uses train announcements, sound effects, and whole box full of whacky sounds to create a musical heaven for young kids"......... and kids even older than me seem to love it too!

The review went on to say that the CD was "every bit as good as (Duggie Dug Dug, Dave Godfrey and Ishmael) and certainly better than numerous other children's albums I've heard". All I can say is "Woooo-Hooooo"!

Yes, still singing and songwriting...i will be sharing in a conference at a prison this weekend. I will be lead worshiping with others from all over the states, about 100 Pastors, Bible teachers, lead worshipers and volunteers to Gatesville Prison in Gatesville,TX. It is good to be used of God in this way.

It doesn't matter whether you're Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Conservative, or Liturgical you need to be aware of what God is doing in these days through the Messianic movement. The more we understand the roots of our faith in Judaism, the more we can understand what God wants us to know to make that faith grow.

It doesn't matter whether you like rock, country, contemporary, gospel, or hip hop, you need to grow in your musical tastes, and sample the rich tapestry of Messianic Jewish music that is available today.
