Dallas, TX - Imagine learning that your 9 month old child might never walk, forever be in extreme physical pain, and that you could do nothing about it. That's the situation William Boyd Chisum's parents faced as they consulted numerous Orthopedic Surgeons and Doctors. They found their only real option was to admit Boyd into the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, at the age of only 9 months, over 10 hours away from their home. This would become Boyd's home away from home as he faced operation after operation, living most of his first 16 years in this hospital.
Chasing The Wind tells the heart-wrenching story of William Boyd Chisum, who has over come insurmountable physical and mental odds to become what he is now, a successful Singer, Songwriter and Motivational Speaker. Boyd bares his very soul and shares that his physical challenges are just an example of what everyone experiences throughout their lives. "We are all broken and inadequate in someway whether it is physical, emotional or intellectual, states Chisum. The moral dilemmas in our lives are usually of our own making." In the pages of Chasing the Wind, Chisum will help the reader discover a more than adequate solution to their own personal challenges.
Boyd began playing the guitar at age eight to ease the hours of boredom in a hospital bed. The guitar and his music became a passion that kept him sane through months of isolation brought on by a recurrent infection that made the risk too high for contact with others. Chisum accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at age10. When he was 16, Boyd was released from Scottish Rite and was able to go to high school and attempt to lead a somewhat normal life. In school he threw himself into his music and eventually received a vocal scholarship to Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
In the late 1970's, Boyd became a member of a popular contemporary Christian music group called Paradise, performing with such famous artists as Russ Taff and the Imperials, The Archers, Reba Rambo, Jerry Clower and a young new artist at that time, Amy Grant. In the 1990's, he formed a Southern Gospel quartet, The King's Four, and performed with notables such as Kirk Tally and David Patillo.
William Boyd Chisum left the Kings Four in the mid 1990's in order to receive an Associate Degree in Sports Medicine/Orthopedic PA from Long Medical Institute graduating with a 4.0. He has worked alongside some of the most recognized world-class Orthopedic Surgeons in the medical field today in his quest to help others like himself overcome physical obstacles. He is a member of the National Association of Orthopedic Technologists and a voting member of GMA ( Gospel Music Association) as well as The Recording Acadamy (Grammy's). Boyd has also worked professionally in the recording industry for twenty years as a singer, songwriter, studio engineer, and producer. He has received numerous awards for vocal accomplishments including a 2007 Grammy and Dove Award Nomination for his song "He Still Moves The Stone". His music has hit the National Chart's in both Country and Gospel music.
In June of 2006, Morgan James Publishing in New York City released Boyd's amazing life story in a book entitled "Chasing the Wind". What others are saying about the ministry of:
William Boyd Chisum
Dr. Charles L. Wilson, Senior Pastor of Sunnyvale First Baptist
"Boyd Chisum's story helps us discover how to journey through the storms of life. His story leads us into the light and love of a Sovereign God who holds your pain and sorrow in His nail-scarred hands. Though Boyd's life is challenged, God's plan and purpose is never displaced. What could Boyd have been if he had a "normal" life? Probably less than he is. It is out of our weakness that God puts His power on display."
Dr. Earl Radmacher, General Editor of, "The NKJV Study Bible" and graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.,Th.D.)
"Relatively few people have been called upon by the Lord to suffer a lifetime of the physical impairments that Boyd has endured throughout his life." But, in preparation for him to become a spokesman to deliver God's message, God says, "My grace is sufficient."
World Renowned Evangelist David Ring, "If anyone ever had the excuse to quit, it would be Boyd. After having over 60 surgeries on his hips and being hospitalized over 3,277 days of his life, which is almost 9 years, one would be tempted to ask the question, "Is life worth living?" Yet William Boyd Chisum has risen above all this and more and has experienced incredible victory due to his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
Charlie Campbell, KCBI-FM Dallas/ Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame
"Boyd is one of this generation's men that qualify for the same lofty description as David in the Old Testament, for he is a man after God's Own Heart."
Pastor Bob Acker, Second Baptist Church Dallas- "William Boyd Chisum is an outstanding person as well as Christian Singer. His relationship with the Lord is evident in all he does. We had him to our church quite by accident if there are such things and our people loved him and his family. He sings from his heart, not to entertain so much as to bring all who listen closer to the Lord he loves. I have never before given an endorsement like this and have been asked to do so many times. The reason being that there are many fairly good singers who are a Christian and sing Christian songs. However there are too few who show the Lord in everything about them. I recommend him to you without the slightest reservation."
Pastor Roy Ford, First Baptist Church Hooks, TX- "In thirty-nine years as a Baptist pastor, I've seen lots of evangelists, counselors, artists, entertainers, etc., in churches. Some have blessed my life and my church while others have left me wishing I was some place else. I've had them all from unknown locals to Gaither Homecoming regulars (these are great). But recently we were blessed to have William Boyd Chisum for the first time. I'll assure you it's not the last! Everything about Boyd-personality, talent, and mostly his Godly Spirit-will cause your people to laugh, cry, be challenged, encouraged and inspired. But more importantly, Boyd Chisum will bring your people into the presence of God with all these things. Boyd's story "Chasing The Wind" should be read by EVERYONE. I thank God for William Boyd Chisum, and I thank Boyd for his submissive spirit before God. Any pastor will do his people a favor by having William Boyd Chisum share his music and testimony with the church".

Why is it that we as Christians often come across as if we are protecting "our turf?" I am a Christian recording artist/author/ordained minister of the Gospel, and believe me I have seen my share of "turf guarding" in every element of my ministry. I ...
