About Caron Guillo
Like everyone else, in a sense I'm on many journeys. Twenty-four years of marriage to an incredible husband who never lets it get boring. Twenty plus years as a mom--I choke up with overpowering love and a strange mix of pride and humility just thinking about my three kids. A lifetime of writing and learning. Five years facing the reality that I'm getting older. More than a year now since the first of two visits to Zimbabwe, in part because of my association with a network of orphan feeding centers. To my surprise, with subtlety and grace, God has used Africa to change everything for me.

But like everyone else, I'm really just on one journey: Life.

I love this journey I'm on. I love that it's all wrapped up in knowing Christ. I love that despite the times of pain, heartbreak, sacrifice, disillusionment, faltering, and frustration, God is enough. A million times more than enough. I love that Jesus is transforming me in spite of myself.

In essence, that's what I write about. Transformation.

Like in my as-yet-unpublished novel CHILDREN OF LIGHT. A former world history teacher, I've long been intrigued by the shocking account of the commoner's crusade of 1212. In this context, CHILDREN OF LIGHT was written to explore every man and woman's struggle to find deliverance from his or her own brokenness--and how God is faithful to the task, even in the midst of our darkest moments. Novelist Jack Cavanaugh writes, "With warmth and humor, Guillo weaves an unforgettable story of hope and perseverance in a cruel and unforgiving world." And New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas says, "[Caron Guillo's] unique writing style blends three journeys into a powerful story of understanding, forgiveness, and transformation."

I'm currently working on a humorous novel entitled A WORK IN PROGRESS. Somewhere along the way, Becca Jacobson has gotten lost in her own life. Widowed twenty-two months ago, she hasn't a clue how to navigate the approaching teenage years of her son, Tyler. And a male co-worker--the self-absorbed P.E. teacher at Thomas Edison Elementary School--has set his unwelcome affections on her. Add to that, she's forced to take a second job when the alternator goes out on her 1993 Honda dubbed "Old Blue," she has an imprudent relationship with Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk, and she doesn't remember how to dream. But with help from an American Idol wanna-be and a female adventurer from the past, Becca finds the courage to rediscover and redefine herself.

Why don't you visit me at ON THIS JOURNEY blog at http://caronguillo.blogspot.com for thoughts on transforming discipleship? We can take the journey together . . .
