Remembering Who We Are: a workbook A Practical Guide to a Restored Life Based on an Adaptation of AA (2006)
From the Forward
"In this workbook Carol Preston has developed a technique of working through each of the twelve steps, either as an individual or preferably in a relatively small group. Carol is imaginative and remarkably creative in these presentations, while at the same time never losing sight of the importance of the spiritual dimension. Human help is important for recovery, God's help is essential. This book is an excellent entrance into the whole process of recovery."
Walter C. McCauley, S.J
Associate Director
Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House
Lake Dallas, Texas

This is a simple and 'do-able' workbook for anyone in recovery or wanting to use the 12 steps for healing and growth. Using mind mapping, visioning, letter writing and more tools, Carol offers over 20 years of experience and guidance with 12 step spirituality to heal from various addictions and co-addiction. Those seeking a workbook for spiritual growth would benefit as well. The book Alcoholics Anonymous is used as a reference.

About Carol Ann Preston
Carol Ann Preston is committed to serving Jesus Christ and helping others through her work and daily life. With the support and encouragement of Ray, her husband, she has worked for years preparing for the day she would be certified as a Chaplain. 2008 Carol realized this long held call and dream, and is now a certified and licensed Chaplain. As a young Catholic girl she did not let go of her hearts desire that one day there would be a place for her to serve Christ and help others, as a married woman. We all have a place in the body of Christ to serve.

Room For Healing was created to encourage healing in many areas and stages or phases of our lives. Supporting life and healing as a doula, a professional labor and delivery coach for pregnant women 1984-2000, Carol realized the similarity between birth and death and has used many of these skills to support those who are ill, dealing with grief or in the process of dying.

She is a Chaplain, an author, licensed massage therapist in Texas and uses this healing art for those who are suffering or dying. Carol also offers prayers of healing, anointing with oil & laying on of hands, or Reiki, for those who ask, remembering that it is God Who is the source of our healing.

Carol has been a volunteer throughout most of her adult life and credits her deep love for her family and concern for others to the healing power of God. Her most profound volunteer opportunity came as she helped raise community awareness about domestic violence and child abuse, as well as fund raising for the Albert Sitton Home in Orange County, Ca. during the late 70's and early 80's.

The most exciting volunteer opportunity came in 2000, when she was accepted by the IOC medical director to be part of the medical team for the Sydney Olympics/ Paralympics as a massage therapist, for elite disabled athletes.

Carol has overcome many difficulties through the grace, courage, willingness and restoration from God; childhood abuse, addiction, abortion, post-traumatic stress syndrome, alcoholism, head trauma, chronic pain, illness and more.

Carol has spent the past 26 years in various efforts to serve God and help others, having turned from God at an early age and then experience His love and restoration, she learned the love and power that comes within a disciplined and committed relationship with Christ. Her life includes prayer and meditation each day, reading the Word of God and relationships with other Christian women and prayer with her husband. She is a newcomer to the city they live in and they are making a new spiritual home at their Church in Texas.

Through her work, Carol has developed and presented award winning programs for adolescence and adults and is gifted with the ability to communicate about subjects of an emotional nature with ease, sensitivity and honesty. Carol developed and presented the program, 'VIP' for at-risk youth in the north Dallas Texas area, which was recognized and awarded by the Meadows Foundation. In addition to providing workshops, support groups and retreats for those affected by addiction, using the tools outlined in her first book, Remembering Who We Are: a workbook

She speaks on topics such as: 12 step spirituality, addictions, teens for positive peer support, child abuse, domestic violence, dysfunction in the class room; guided relaxation and meditation, birth-death; the cycle of life, abortion and more.

Carol resides in Texas with her husband and has two grown children and one beautiful granddaughter, children are a gift from God. Carol and her husband hope to enlarge their family through adoption in the next few years and appreciate any support in this area, refer a woman with a crisis pregnancy to Carol, and she will ensure the support and/or referral needed.

Protection and respect of all stages of life is Carol's passion; unborn to the elderly.

Carol grew up in the faith and culture of the Catholic Church, with much of her youth in East Texas. Her family is large in number, with her maternal and paternal grandmothers both Native American. Carol grew up respecting the Earth and those around her, accepting as normal the responsibility to add goodness to this life. She delights in recognizing God through His beautiful creation.

Carol is currently writing a non-fiction story about a heroin addict and redemption. She hopes to secure a publisher soon and is available as a speaker, retreat leader, workshop facilitator or for private appointments.
Carol co-host the "Relationship' show each week www.take12radio.com a Christian recovery radio show, another member of the shoutlife community.
