I started out 2008 by tackling a writing assignment - to create a writing mission statement in 10 words or less. This is what I ended up with:

Encouraging women to build healthy supportive relationships for Christian Growth

To me, that's the essence of writing - telling stories about life's experiences, bumps and bruises to let others know they aren't alone. Others before them suffered similar hurtful experiences and came through victoriously. If they could overcome in their circumstances, we can too!

My first novel, Daughter of Lot, was written with that in mind - to give women a Bible role model for overcoming the shame and pain of abuse in their lives. We don't have to be shackled by our past - but can become Daughter's of God!

Other current writing projects include 2 novels in progress, a devotional booklet, a book of short stories and a guide for developing a church drama ministry. Boy do I have a lot of work to do!

But there's always time to visit with my family of three married children and 6 grandchildren. Since they live farther away, we visit by phone, but computers, web cams, blogs and unlimited long distance make it bearable.

At home I take care of my pastor hubby and a wimpy mut who fancies himself a killer guard dog as well as a red male beta named after my grandson Avery. Of course at church I work with the children on Wednesday evenings and Children's Church so there's always lots to do!
