Bible Studies: Nothing. Years ago I envisioned my ideal in a Bible study guide...one with active study on weekdays but passive devotionals (aimed at application) on the weekends; small enough to go in a diaper bag; one that included the entire Bible text so I could do it in a doctor's waiting room; one that lent itself to both individual and group study; one that appealed to more than the visual-only participant; written by a writer with an imperfect Christian life; with a binding I could file on my bookshelf but with a spiral on it so I could use it on the treadmill or write in it (workbook) without the book flipping open. Voila! The Coffee Cup Bible Series. My web site at www.aspire2.com has additional info, like art, that relates to each study.

Still, Esther goes on to became a great heroine, proving that anyone with the courage to follow God can be used to accomplish great things.

Explore God's grace through Esther's story in this five-week study.

Java with the Judges (AMG) (2006)
"They all did what was right in their own eyes." Sound familiar? In the history of the nation of Israel, the period of the judges looked much like today. Okay, they didn't have Internet porn and bio-terrorism threats. But they had the me-centered "I" mentality mastered—just like we do.

This six-week study is chock full of exciting drama—from Deborah the Deliveress and tent-peg-wielding Jael to Samson's Mother the Mute. And we have Ehud the Knifer and Samson the Seduced. Their stories inspire us to do what is right in God's eyes, no matter what the cost.

Because Hannah's story happened during the time of the judges, an overview of 1 Samuel 1 is also included.

From AMG. This and all the Coffee Cup Bible Studies books contain weekday Bible study questions with devotional thoughts for lighter weekend reading. Designed for group or individual study. Grab a few friends and get ready for a fun, exciting, faith-stretching discussion.

Mocha on the Mount (AMG) (2006)
Imagine yourself having coffee with Jesus. What would you ask Him? What might He ask you? In this study we consider His words in the Sermon on the Mount and explore how our righteousness can actually "exceed that of the scribes and the Pharisees." Okay, actually, we'll explore how Jesus set the bar so high that we see the key to entering the kingdom of heaven: realizing our deep need for grace and for someone else's righteousness to be credited to our account. That's the only way we get that kind of righteousness.

This six-week study, as well as all the other Coffee Cup Bible studies, contains weekday Bible study questions and weekend devotionals for lighter reading. Designed for group or individual study.

About Sandra Glahn
I love to write. And my passion is engaging the culture on issues that matter.

Currently I'm editor of Dallas Seminary's magazine, Kindred Spirit, and I have a number of books in print, the latest being the Coffee Cup Bible study series (a tall mocha and a Bible make the perfect combo). I've coauthored three biothrillers with a medical doctor and I launched my first medical thriller, Informed Consent, last August. The third edition of my co'd book, Sexual Intimacy in Marriage, released May 2007.

I started writing stories in the second grade and haven't stopped yet.

I'm a fifth-generation Oregonian transplanted in Dallas, Texas. I'm the wife of one husband, mother of one child, teacher of many creative arts students at my alma mater, Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), and student (PhD in aesthetic studies) at the University of Texas at Dallas. I love mentoring writers, writing, travel, and talking bioethics.

I serve on the boards of the Evangelical Press Association and Hannah's Prayer, and the women's executive committee for bible.org.

The most important factoid about me: I am a Christ-follower, having trusted Him on Valentine's Day when I was 14.

I've been married for more than a quarter-century to a fab guy, and we have one daughter, who joined our family 13 years ago through the miracle of adoption.

My main blog, Aspire2 blog, focuses on--no surprise!--thinking that transforms--so I talk about current events, biblical thinking, art, medicine, and family life.
