About Adam Blumer
In August 2007, God opened the door for me to publish my first Christian suspense novel through Kregel Publications. Since then . . . what a whirlwind! Who am I? I'm a new novelist who doesn't have a clue . . . but I'm learning. I'm also a husband and father of two daughters. My debut novel, Fatal Illusions, is scheduled for release in spring 2009.

Fatal Illusions, a Christian suspense novel

A trick rope.

The kind magicians use to entertain children.

But now four women are dead, strangled, and a killer's on the loose.

Gillian Thayer's calligraphy business in Chicago keeps her mind off personal tragedy. But when her husband, Marc, a pastor and biblical counselor, becomes entangled in a church discipline situation that turns violent, she and her family flee the bad press and take a sabbatical at Whistler's Point, a creepy historic lighthouse on Upper Michigan's Lake Superior.

Also new to the area is Haydon Owens, a serial killer who strangled four women in Cincinnati with a magician's trick rope. Haydon dreams of being the next Houdini, but pursuing his dream means turning his back on his past, which is easier said than done.

When he claims his next victim, the police arrest Marc Thayer, the last person to see the victim alive. Chuck Riley, original investigator on the Magician Murders case, comes out of retirement to help the Thayers clear Marc's name by taking another look at the forensic evidence. Can they stop Haydon before he kills again?

The clock is ticking, and Haydon spots his next victim . . .

Fatal Illusions, my debut suspense novel, is scheduled for release by Kregel Publications in spring 2009. Check back for release updates as they develop.

Hey, I just noticed your killer did his evilness in Cincinnati first. I'm glad he moved away, since that's where I live!

May your day be filled with gladness and your heart with joy!

HUMILITY!

What is true humility? And why is it so important that we understand it?

To begin with we need to understand that the Greek word for humility is PRAUS, which means STRONG. Humility does not mean shy. Nor does it mean that we must wear clothing which is out of fashion to demonstrate our humbleness. If this was the case every humble man would be wearing a robe as Christ did. It has nothing to do with whether we shave or grow a beard, nor whether our hair is long or short. Lack of wearing makeup or going all natural does not add to our quest for humility. If the house in which you reside needs painting paint it. If new and better ways are discovered that benefit human life use them for the glory of God, who allowed them to be discovered. Instead of allowing satan to destroy us with them for his glory. Being bound by such things keeps us in bondage to the enemy not in a state of humility before our God.

Humility may best be explained as the difference between horses trained by their master for a specific purpose and their wild counterpart. The word PRAUS describes a mighty stallion. That has been trained for battle. This stallion has been broken from his wild impulsive nature and retrained in the ways of his master for a specific purpose. He retains the entire dynamic for which he was created. That is he still has the energy and, enthusiasm which is inherent in horses, which he has always had, but his sense of purpose has changed. And now he is able to get things done that fulfill the purpose of his master. The difference between a retrained horse and his wild counterpart is that its purpose in life has been brought under the control of His master. Just one slight touch of the rein and a ton of horseflesh submits its will to the will of its master. In this training process the horse's spirit is not broken, but his self-will has been giving up to the will of the master.

As we allow Christ to retrain us to think and act like Him we become bold and certain of our ability to defeat the enemy and accomplish the works that we have been called and chosen to do. Being shy and uncertain of this power active in us is not humility. It is disobedience. Humility enables us to boldly refuse to give in to circumstance and move always according to the word of God and achieve His promised results. Peter and John did this in Acts 3:1-11. Peter in affect was saying I have been broken from the ways of man and retrained in the ways of God. And what I have been trained to do is to give to others (you) the benefits that God has in Christ given me and trained me to give to others in His name. Humility is pure and simple bold obedience to the Master's desires.

Love, prayers and blessing
