60's and 70's AM Pop radio, soul, disco, funk, rock.... The singer songwriters of the era... James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills and Nash.... Woodstock.... anyone with an acoustic guitar, piano or had great vocal harmonys.... Elton John, Beatles, Monkee's, Partridge Family, Neil Diamond, Three Dog Night..... Growing up in the church I was influenced by the great Hymns, Choirs and Pipe Organ music.... A family full of jazz musicians had an affect on me too. As a bass player... Jaco, Dee Murray, John Paul Jones, James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, Duck Dunn, Joe Osbourne, Graham Maby, Wilbur Bascomb, Peter Cetera, John Deacon, Ross Valory, Geddy Lee... Motown and Stax... It was the greatest time for music EVER!!

I am Tim Gaines and I play bass guitar.
I am probably best known as bassplayer, keyboardist, and a founding member of the multi platinum, Grammy nominated, and Dove award winning 80's Christian band Stryper (1983 - 2004). Being in Stryper was a great part of my life and I am grateful to God for the experience. You can catch me with Stryper on the upcoming 25 Year Anniversary Tour starting this September 2009.
