General Interests
My general interests include history, genealogy, horses and other animals, needlework, reading, logic.
Music
I enjoy classical music and just about anything old.
Books
My favorite reading material is a good mystery or suspense book, but I also love to read true historical accounts, historical novels, romance, classics, travel and nature books. Right now I am re-reading an older novel (Janice Holt Giles's Six Horse Hitch) and discovering a new novel (Sara Mills's Miss Match), and a non-fiction book (Polar Bears, by Ian Stirling).
Movies/TV
TV--I enjoy The Amazing Race and America's Got Talent. I sometimes watch crime drama shows such as NCIS, Numb3rs, or The Mentalist. I'll also sit down with my kids now and then for a rerun of Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show, or Get Smart.

About Susan Page Davis
Hi! I'm Susan Page Davis. I'm a wife, a mother of six and grandmother of five. I'm also a writer.
I have twenty-two books in print: ten historical romances with Heartsong Presents; a young adult fantasy, Feather, with JourneyForth, and a contemporary young adult, Sarah's Long Ride; six romantic suspense: Frasier Island, Finding Marie, and Inside Story with Harvest House, On a Killer's Trail, Witness, and Just Cause with Love Inspired Suspense; and two cozy mysteries, Homicide at Blue Heron Lake and Treasure at Blue Heron Lake, from Heartsong Presents Mysteries. More coming soon!
I worked from my home for more than 20 years as a contracted writer for a daily newspaper. In 1999, I started writing fiction seriously, I sold several short stories to magazines.
The first book I ever wrote, a romantic suspense, is still unpublished. It was a great training exercise, and I may rewrite it someday for publication.
I began targeting Heartsong Presents because at the time I felt they were one of the Christian publishers most open to new, unagented authors. They bought Protecting Amy in 2003 and released it in 2004. Since then they have bought about 20 more books from me. My New Hampshire historicals trio released in 2008, and my Wyoming contemporary and Alaska threesome will come out in 2009.
I'm very excited about my romantic suspense books. Frasier Island was released March 1, 2007. It was great fun to write, and I hope you'll enjoy reading it. It's now available through my website; susanpagedavis.com. The sequel, Finding Marie, came out in September 07, and the third book, Inside Story, in January 2009. Both these were selections of Crossings Book Club. My next Love Inspired Suspense will come out in October 2009: Hearts in the Crosshairs, about a stalker targeting Maine's first female governor.
Right now I'm working on a full-length romantic western, The Sheriff's Surrender. In the small Idaho town of Fergus (year 1885), someone is killing prominent people. The men of Fergus don't seem to be able to protect the town, so the women band together and form The Ladies' Shooting Club. Will the new sheriff be able to unmask the killer, or will that honor belong to Gert Dooley, Libby Adams, Bitsy Shepard, and the other members of the Ladies' Shooting Club? This book will be released by Barbour in December, 2009.

I give away a free book each month.
I am thrilled that God has allowed me to help out with my family's expenses and children's education by writing books.
Have a great writing and reading day!
Susan

Writing about Weddings   10/15/2009 - 8:11 PM
I'm writing a wedding scene today. It takes place in 1886, so it's a bit different from any of the weddings I've really been to, but as is usually the case in real life, this wedding is a joyous occasion. Two of my favorite characters are tying the... (login or sign up to read more)
