About Rejoys by PJ Bach
Rejoys has had her share of heartbreak and tragedy but has experienced even more blessings and love. If you look at her paintings "Second Thought" and "Psalm 91" you will see just some of her life experiences coming straight from her heart. "Pirates Cove" was a sailing trip she took into that Alabama Cove made famous by Jimmy Buffet, where it is said he wrote 'Cheeseburger in Paradise.' Most all of her paintings have come out of those life moments, whether good or bad, and you can actually relate to the feelings evoked by that piece of art. The most poignant and meaningful are the ones depicting the sacrifice and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the reason to live, to paint, to celebrate and to share His love. Her art has inspired and encouraged others to use their gifts. Her 'joie de vivre' is contagious and is expressed in her art.
When Rejoys was in a near -fatal automobile accident in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, I flew there to be with her in recovery. She had the same injuries that killed Princess Diana. The Doctors who were there in the emergency room had no explanation for her survival. One Dr. Said that it was as if an invisible hand had held her heart in His hand so she didn't bleed to death. She remained in a coma for days and when she woke up her son, Shane, was there next to her bed reading aloud the 23rd Psalm. The Love of God and His great Mercy, Grace and Goodness drew her back into His presence from the very brink of death. 'Psalm 91' depicts God rescuing her in that time. If you look closely you will see the entire 91st Psalm written out in the painting. There are hidden things in most of Rejoys paintings.
She made a 17 day trip by motorcycle from Louisiana to Playa del Carmen in the Yucatan Peninsula , Mexico, They crossed into Mexico from Brownsville, Texas.
She was part of the 3 person crew on a sailboat, the 'Teatime'. (The other two crew members were a bush pilot from Alaska and the Captain, a crazy Cajun from LA.) They sailed across from Pensacola, Fl. To Isla Mujeres, an Island off Cancun. They were dead in the water for 2 days when the engine quit
they had run out of food and were nearly boarded by a hostile ship. During that trip her father had a massive heart attack and the coast guard was notified that she was missing. They had in turn sent out searchers and the coast guard notified a 170 foot cargo ship from Berlin, the Esquire. Radio contact with the coastguard scared the hostile ship away. They were then invited onto the 'Esquire' and fed while the Esquires' own mechanic boarded the Teatime and fixed the engine. Prayers were once again answered. God is faithful.
For 5 years her hair was a gorgeous bright cobalt blue - before that it was at different times fushia and purple streaks, or a myriad of other bright colors. She looked like she belonged in one of her paintings.
Rejoys has always had an energy and joy, anchored in God's love, that kept her through hard times, rebellious times, good times and better times. She has always believed in Love, had hope for the future and been an encourager in my life.
If I didn't know better I would think this was an exaggerated fictional story but Rejoys' life experiences are indeed better (stranger) than fiction.
If you want to know more you'll have to buy the book when I finish it.
