Johnny Colbert aka KRITIKAL was born April 11, 1982 in Dallas TX to Johnny and Luketha Colbert who divorced when he was only six years old. KRITIKAL, who wasn't an only child (sister: Shamerica Colbert), uses his life experiences to convey positive outcomes to the youth through his music. KRITIKAL refers to his music as "Inspirational Hip Hop" that is targeted to grasp the masses not one specific race or population. Johnny aka KRITIKAL began rapping at the age of twelve and was presented this first opportunity to perform at his church home, Gospel Tabernacle (GT) for his youth pastor Fred Lynch. This is when Johnny felt his calling and he began writing lyrics and embracing any chance to perform. He performed at his junior high school after he and several friends were awarded and acknowledged for creating a very positive rap ("Go to school.....Get an Education"). He was then called to perform different songs at various High Schools and Churches throughout the Dallas Texas metroplex becoming known as " JC KRITIKAL" which he always stressed his name to be just "KRITIKAL". During 1996-1998 KRITIKAL began rapping at "Shake Dallas" a youth rally that was held annually at Gospel Tabernacle Church where Bishop David E. Martin is the pastor. KRITIKAL got the chance to share the stage with famous gospel rapper T-Bone. In 2000 he rapped at the Cancer Seminar and in 2001 got a big chance to showcase his skills by rapping during a live tapping of well-know and aspiring Gospel Comedian, Trina Jefferies aka Sister Cantelope's Laugh Out Loud Video. Between the years of 2002-2005 experiencing both ups and downs KRITIKAL continued to keep writing and performing at various locations, and in the midst of performing the different shows, a close friend, Chris Coleman believed that KRITIKAL was very talented and needed a manager. Chris Coleman worked with KRITIKAL over the course of a few years (starting at the age of 16) giving him positive feedbacks on his lyrics as well as keeping him motivated while preparing him for the next step befor officially becoming his manager in the year 2005. Manager Chris Coleman also discovered that his daughter Christian Coleman aka Crescendo could sing and rap during a performance that KRITIKAL and Crescendo did at church when KRITIKAL was only 16 (he currently manages both). To date, KRITIKAL is currently working on his first CD entitled " The Promise". This CD features several songs such as The Promise, Final Destination, Make Me Wanna Holla, and Take'em To War. These songs will play a large stepping stone in a most promising and successful career for KRITIKAL.
