Back to Where it Started (2006)
This is my most recent undertaking. A visit back to the songs that influenced me growing up...with a stopover at some songs I fell in love with after I got saved. There are three new songs on this one that I wrote. The others are "standards". This project also includes the "Fema Trailer Song" which is a light-hearted look at life after Katrina, in which I lost my home. Randy Miller and I make up the band on this one and we had a blast putting the project together.
Song list:
Master of the Wind
Sweet Beulah Land
He's Still in the Fire (with The Stanleys)
Who Am I
Come Morning (with The Stanleys)
It's Not Grace
Glory Road (with Randy Miller)
Put Me Down
In The Cross (with Rev. Jimmy D. Walley)
That's My Jesus Standing There (with Rebekah Downing)
God of Second Chances

Voice of Many Waters (2005)
This was my first "pro" project. We recorded at Snippa Creek, with my buddy Randy Miller. We used Nashville pickers. I wrote the songs on this one...well, except for one song; "I've Got My Foot on the Rock"...that was an oldie. The musical style is a bit more hard-driving and edgy...I was told once my music was "road music" and showed my influences from Skynyrd to Buddy Holly. Whatever, lol. I just know it all worked out the way I planned...and that's how God operates!
I got the title while touring Cades Cove in the Smokey Mtns with my mom. I got out of the car to take some shots of a couple of waterfalls and the sound was so deafening, it was hard to hear. I thought of that verse in Revelation and how one day we will hear the Lord speak with a sound that will completely envelope and overcome us. That was an awesome moment for me. All of the shots on the front cover were my pics. One of the shots on the back was pasted in from somewhere...I dunno...Sally who did the graphics got it from somewhere. At any rate, Voice of Many Waters was a project I considered a milestone for me...it moved things to a different level.
Song List:
Double For Your Trouble
Closer To You
Didn't They Know
My Foot's On The Rock
Havin' Church
If I Had Only Known
I Know
Look What You've Done
Heavenly Father
It Was Worth It All

Cinderblock Walls and Redback Hymnals (2004)
This is a collection of hymns from the Redback Church of God Hymnal and the Redback Inspiration Hymnal. Lots of favorites and some new arrangements of old standards. My grand-niece Savannah is on the cover and that shot turned out just as I had envisioned it. I wanted to give the listener the thought of an old country church, back years ago, with the windows open and the ceiling fans spinning...and power of God moving everywhere.
Songlist:
I Feel Like Travelin' On
Daystar
Jesus Hold My Hand
The Way That He Loves
I Never Shall Forget the Day
Too Late To Pray
He Set Me Free
Just As I Am
Consider the Lilies
Gettin' Ready to Leave this World
On this project, my nephew Chris did the Plan of Salvation. There is also a "recorded live and as is" old standard at the end of the CD...a bit of a surprise for my "loyal" listeners.

No Fault (2003)
Ten songs written by the Lord, but copyright credited to me!
That's My Jesus Standing There
Broken-Hearted Child
I Find No Fault In Him
God Will Deliver
I Want More Of You, Jesus
Think About It
A Man Called Jesus
Lord, I Thank You
The Church Built On Love
Message Of Hope
Each project that I produce has a spoken "Plan of Salvation" on it. I know of people who will listen to my cd's because they like my style of music, or they remember me from "the bars and honkytonks"...I cannot let them get away without hearing how to get saved.
This was my first project and we attacked it with gusto, determination, and the "ignorant innocence" that so many of us exhibit, lol. We knew nothing about tracking and it took a good deal of mixing and editing to get the finished product. Overall I hear good things about it, and it is one of my most requested projects with a couple of my most requested songs. Not a bad freshman effort and definitely a "God thing" as the devil fought me tooth and nail the whole time we were putting this one together.

I am saved and loving life and doing my best to serve God. I write and sing Gospel music (Southern, Country, whateva, lol) and I work offshore 14/14.
I am blessed to have a job that not only supports me, it allows me the time and freedom to pursue my calling and my heart. I publish music and have had a couple of cuts, one by me, one I co wrote, and hopefully a few from an AWESOME writer I represent (shout out to you Bekah).
I enjoy playing instruments...guitar, dobro, harmonica, trumpet, piano, bass, mandolin, yada yada yada...and I love it when I play alongside someone who really shows me up...cause that is how I learn new stuff, lol. I was voted Musician of the Year for 2005, 2006 & 2007 for the Ms State Quartet Convention Association, and I serve as the band coordinator for MSQCA. I tied with Tommy Moseley for Soloist of the Year in 2005 which blew me away cause Tommy is "da bomb".
God has been so good to me I cannot begin to tell it all...but I will try as long as I am able.
In July of 2007 a couple of life-changing events took place...on the 3rd I had lap-band surgery after years of failed weight-loss attempts. I was tired of always being the big guy. Currently (July 08) I am 65 pounds lighter than I was...I could be doing lots better, but I love to eat. Nuff said.
On July 27, 2007, the Lord answered my prayers (very specifically I might add) when I was married to Miss Retha Newsome. She has been an awesome asset to JWC Ministries, and she and the girls (Morgan and Mallorie)are the missing pieces of the puzzle that completed my life.
We are currently in production on a new CD..."Simply Acoustic" will answer the requests from so many for a project with just "me and a guitar". I have some new new stuff and some new old stuff...should be worth waiting for...at least I think so. Also, we have just recorded "East Texas Live...with special guest Ms Minnie Williams" and shooting for September street date.
Let's see...that's an update...stay tuned...

For those of you who have never heard the Llama Song...it is worth the bandwidth it takes to check it out. How something so silly can be so funny is beyond me. I sing it sometimes to the newest member of the family, Aubrey...and she loves it. She was...

So...I really love that movie "A River Runs Through It" though I could do without the cussing. I bought it for my daughter's stocking this year and had forgotten the language. Thank God for TVG, though she may still not get to see it in this lifetime...
