4 A Cross was originally formed as a secular band in the summer of 2004 to play a benefit for the wife of our lead singers former musical partner, who had passed away unexpectedly. In may of 2005 the group (not band), as it is now called made the decision to play only Christian music. Three of the first four members, Raymond Athaide, Jeffrey Seamans, and Arthur Kurtz, Jr. are the same with the founding drummer, Bruce Medici moving on to pursue other areas of ministry in the spring of 2007.
At that time the Lord blessed us by sending Howard Lambert, the former drummer for Elijah to us and that has remained the group since that time.
Ray Athaide is the lead singer and plays rhythm guitar. A powerful voice and worship leader, Ray would be the acknowledged leader of the group.
Jeff Seamans does some backup vocals and plays lead guitar. One of the most humble Christian men I know, this man has a tremendous love for God and is one of the more gifted guitar players around. Truly a joy to listen to and to be around.
Arty kurtz also sings backup and he is our bass player. The baby Christian of the group, Arty actually started playing Christian music and then began his relationship with Christ. maturing daily in his walk and a true minister for Christ.
Howie Lambert is as grounded in the Lord as he is talented on the drums which says a lot about his ability to bang the skins. As always, God knew what we needed and sent us Howie. He helps to keep us moving forward spiritually as we grow musically.
Also involved in the ministry of 4 A Cross is Arthur Kurtz, III (yes he is the son of our bass player) who is our producer/engineer. He does sound, is responsible for producing our CD and does our graphics.
The final member of this ministry is me. Yes, my name is John Cirelli and I am the Executive Producer (pretty fancy title, wouldn't you agree). My responsibilities are to handle the day to day business of the group. I am responsible for booking, CD and t-shirt production, websites, and anything else that should come along.
Individually, we are six guys just getting by. Collectively as 4 A Cross, God uses each of our gifts to share the love of Christ and His Gospel through our music. We are so very blessed to be able to work with this ministry that is 4 A Cross.
